TREAT, Clarens Retreat’s fully licenced À la carte restaurant, is situated at 411 Main Street, barely 200m from the Village Square.
Diners are offered food that is crafted from fresh, seasonal and local produce in an exclusive contemporary French-Country setting, where menus change regularly to reflect the seasonal bounty available from local producers and suppliers, whom it is our mission to support.

About our Chef
Originally from Bloemfontein, Chef Francois Potgieter honed his cooking skills from a young age under the tutelage of his Mother, also an excellent cook. Later in life he moved to New York where he lived for 4 ½ years whilst undergoing formal training at the French Culinary Institute of Manhattan. Upon returning to South Africa, Francois qualified as a Cordon Blue Chef. His career as a Chef spans over 20 years and he progressed to the rank of Executive Chef. Now, as co-owner of TREAT and Clarens Retreat Guesthouse, Francois believes that food should be FRESH, meat should be LEAN, dishes should be UNCOMPLICATED, and food should be cooked and eaten with PASSION.
