In a gesture aimed at benefiting the local community, the management of The Clarens Golf and Leisure Estate has agreed to return a borehole to the local Municipality.
This decision follows an agreement made in December 2019, in which the estate was permitted to use a redundant Municipal borehole located in the Swartland. The estate took on the refurbishment costs.
On Tuesday, 17 September 2024, representatives of The Clarens Golf and Leisure Estate met with officials from the Dihlabeng Municipality to discuss the matter. Bernie Platte, the estate’s General Manager, clarified that the borehole is not particularly strong and would not significantly contribute to water supply, even if further developed. He also addressed a misunderstanding shared with the Clarens Community Committee (CCC), confirming that only one borehole exists, not two.
